Back when I was in elementary school I used to keep a diary. In those days diaries were generally designed for girls. They had flowery girl colored patterns, and always always had a little lock as protection against our brothers prying eyes. Yet our brothers invariably managed to pick the lock and reveal our most embarrassing secrets at school. But you know, we kept writing in those diaries anyway.
Diaries to Blogs
Eventually diaries became known as journals, the colors changed to attract masculine as well as feminine authors, and that little lock disappeared. Even more recently electronic journals, better known as blogs, have become the hot ticket. It seems that everyone has at least one journal or blog, if not more.
So it seems natural that aquarium owners would write journals. Do you? All of us have had mistakes and successes with our aquariums. Why not share them? A while ago a reader wrote an online journal on my site about her experience changing from plastic plants to live plants. That series of journal articles is still very popular.
Aquarium Blogs
In searching the Internet I found surprisingly few aquarium fish blogs. Those that I did find were outstanding, and left me wanting more. Why aren't there more aquarium blogs? Perhaps it is because aquarium owners prefer using message boards on aquarium topics (which seem to outnumber the blogs). Or maybe they are just too busy watching their fish to write about them.
Whatever the reason is, I'd like to do what I can to entice people to write about their aquarium experiences. If you have an aquarium blog, send me a link and I'll create a blog list and feature it here. If keeping a blog isn't your thing, but you'd like to share an experience, send an e-mail to freshaquarium.guide@about.com and I can create a journal here to share what you know. Five years from now you may be chuckling at what you wrote, but it will be fun reading it!
